Fellowships

In 2002, the Institute developed a fellowship program to support faculty and graduate students who are actively involved in research around the issues of race and justice. During the first year, the Institute selected six research proposals, representing a wide range of disciplines and activities, for fellowship funding with a combined total of approximately ,000. The fellowship recipients, scholars from the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, Department of African-American Studies, School of Law, and School of Eduation, used Institute funding to further develop projects for proposals and publication.

Beginning in the 2003-2004 school year, the Institute fellowship process is changing to support smaller numbers of post-doctoral or post-graduate students engaged in research activities in the areas of race and justice.
